Good News for Internet Users

Website Domain Will be Available in HINDI, BENGALI & Other Indian Languages Soon


Getting an internet domain name in English is passe, now get ready to have it in Regional Languages. The International Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), the non profit Corporation with the responsibility for Internet's Domain Name (DNS) management worldwide has been on the job to support Domain names and numerous languages spoken in India. Including the 22 Scheduled Languages of the Country

Work is on for nine indian script - Gujarati, Devanagari, Bengali, Gurmukhi, Kannada, Malayalam, Oriya, Tamil and Telugu. These scripts are expected to cover many different local languages.

ICANN has been working towards building the rules for secure and stable definition of the top level domains for scripts used globally. So that people with no knowledge of english are able to go online and access the websites with the Domain names completely in their Languages. for example one can enter the Domain in hindi to get hindi concept. Instead of typing a domain name in English for this purpose. which is the current practice.

About 52 Per cent of the world population have access to Internet now and ICANN is contributing towards bridging the digital divide.

The ICANN India Head said "Many of the remaining 48 percent are non english speaking people and those who do not have the ability to type in English. The work will allow Domain Names to be available for these people in their Languages"

When asked the searching content in Regional Languages is already possible in google and other search engines. He said the current effort is focused on enabling the Domain namin regional Languages. Which is turn would enable the system to publish local language content being searched.

This work for defining rules for the Domain names for Languages spoken in India is underway with a dedicated commnity based panel. The neo-brahmi generation panel as it is called consist of more than 60 Technical Experts and linguist from india, Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Singapore. Where these languages and scripts are used.

Government extends deadline for filling INCOME TAX RETURNS by a month to August 31

The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has extended the due date for filing of Income Tax Returns from 31 July 2018 to 31 August 2018, for certain categories of Taxpayers.
The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has extended the due date for filling of Income Tax Returns to 31 August 2018, for categories of Taxpayers who were to file their returns by July 31.

The decision comes days ahead of the July 31 deadline, which several groups had requested the government to push to later.

CBDT had notified the new income tax return forms for assessment year 2018-19 on April 5. Experts said the introduction of new forms was leading to delays in filling of returns.

Further, the CBDT had said non filing of Income Tax Return (ITR) Before the due date from the assessment year would lead to a penalty of ₹ 1000, ₹ 5000 and ₹ 10,000 depending on when the returns were filed after the deadline. The fine for Taxpayers having income under ₹ 5 Lakh remained at ₹ 1000.

WHATSAPP to limit message forwarding to Five Chats in India

Under unrelenting pressure from the Indian Government to effectively handle the menace of rumours and fake news on its platform.



Whatsapp has announced another series of measure to curtail mass forwarding of messages, Images and Videos.

In a statement, whatsapp said it is launching a test to limit forwarding on whatsapp. In India, where people forward more messages, videos and pics then any other country in the world. Also test a lower limit of five (5) chats and groups at once. And remove the quick forward button next media message.

Whatsapp had added a feature to let people forward a message to multiple chats at once a few years ago. This comes after whatsapp Launched it's forward label in India earlier this month to identify messages which are not original and have been forwarded.
